I Didn't Know God Made Honky Tonk Communists: A Memoir About Draft Card Burning, Witchcraft and the Sexual Meaning of Ballgames

Rate this book
Miller's memoir includes the personal details of his life, but is focused mainly on his philosophical pursuits. Raised as a Catholic, Miller was the first to burn his draft card once that act was made illegal in 1965. From this early declaration of pacificism and opposition to the Vietnam War, Miller became interested in ecofeminism, witchcraft, and Mayan ball games, all of which is related here. Miller then writes about his theory that American ball sports share the same patriarchal basis and societal function as the Mayan version. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
