Very illuminating exploration of prayer: "Prayer is a believer’s attempt to break out of his ordinary existence in order to become open to God"
As I read, I am always surprised and delighted by how sensitive, artful Boros' writing. The balance between more rigorous academic thinking and artful writing is a unique quality of his.
"In shame, I can say quite honestly: If it is really my destiny to be with others in the world, I ought to be a light shining for those others. But I am not. I ought to give myself, just as I am, just as I have become, to them in love. But I do not. In the very act of giving myself, I hold myself back."
