A mixture of derring do and polemic. The polemic is tedious but a vaguely interesting reflection of the times it was written. The derring do, though, was interesting and humorously written.
To be fair he says he had to be light on the adventure to protect people and state secrets. It sounds very much like he had more of the adventurous side to relate.
Note: I got this book from Project Gutenberg so someone felt it worthwhile to digitise.

This is a great insight into contemporary views of the First World War. My only complaint is that far more space than necessary was given to the failures of the British blockade.
