An optimistic and useful account of America's space programme. The content is detailed and narrative and easy to follow. Illustrations are good. The book is a product of it's time with the shuttle programme in full swing and pre-Challenger the tone is an optimistic one and it made me long for the day that mankind gets back to manned space exploration in the same vein as those pioneers of the 1950s, 1960's and 1970s.
