In this fully illustrated field guide, David George Gordon introduces us to the geoduck-that peculiar-looking, giant burrowing clam that grows to more than 8 inches in length and weighs as much as 14 pounds. This field guide will appeal to anyone interested in northwest marine life, clam digger or not. Sales of this field guide help support People for Puget Sound.
Really interesting dive into the life cycle of the geoduck, how to distinguish it from other similar-looking clams, etc. My one complaint, and one I've never made in a field guide before, is that the "how to prepare/cook the geoduck" section at the end should have been fleshed out a bit more. For example, it talks about cleaning the siphon and separating it from the body, but it was unclear to me what you do with it once separated. Can it be used the same as the body muscles? Oh well, I guess that's what Google is for...
