It's always cool when you can read something, that comes right out of your library and that's just were I plucked 'The Devil's Bounty' out of.
'The Devil's Bounty' is the 2nd book in the Bounty Hunter Series. I really like Ken Hodgson's writing, he puts you the reader right into the pages, gives you extra helpings of twists and turns, has the knack adding some very colorful characters in the storyline and definitely not meant for the faint of heart.
This one is about Dallas Handley a bounty hunter based out of San Antonio, Texas who is on the trail of the Flatt Brothers, end's up in Devil's Gate and ends up facing being hung.
Strap yourself in for a entertaining read, even with all the violence in it. Hodgson still adds interesting characters like Velvet Dawn, Barney Handley, Frank Dutton, Omar, Mabel, Halim and renegade members of Geronimo's tribe.
Hodgson wrote a classic Western noir story of good verse evil, 50+ sticks of dynamite gets used, cannon's get fired, Geronimo makes a brief guest appearance, features an epic chase with a elephant pulled Circus cart and evil finds themselves no match for an Apache with a knife.
Don't want to give too much away, but definitely a worthy read and really like Hodgson's writing style. He wrote six total Westerns, have read two now, have two more to read and one more to find used, but it's a shame that none of his books are available yet as ebooks, the ones I read are favorites, quite good.and happy hunting since I know they are hard to find.
