I enjoyed this one. Our MC is a young Irish woman in Boston, 1918-19. Mary Kate has obtained a job at one of the newspapers and ends up doing the "agony aunt" column, "Dear Priscilla." Unfortunately, she begins to receive regular letters from someone that may be the killer of several women.

It's an interesting look at the time and place, plus there are mentions of the discrimination against the Irish, the upper classes, the burgeoning suffrage movement, the end of World War I, the influenza epidemic, and, finally, what's known as "The Great Molasses Flood." All this tied in with these murders! Whew...

Author Forbes does a good job of showing a wide variety of folks around Mary Kate, at work and home. But they are not as obvious as red herrings as many books. The resolution of the mystery seems a little rushed, as well as the wrap-up, but I wasn't totally surprised. But it was a fun, quick read. Older titles like this are definitely good if you are looking for shorter reads.
