When his father dies in a fall in the mountains, twelve-year-old Tommy is left to fend for himself. Through stamina, ingenuity, and a miraculous alliance with a grizzly cub whose mother he helped, the boy survives. When Tommy is older, he and the bear venture down into the valley where they prevent the killing of an unbreakable horse. The horse, the bear, and Tommy become legend - and an expedition is mounted to capture or kill Tommy.

A Max Brand Western Adventure

MB. has. penned a western adventure that begins with a mountain man falling in love with a flat lander. There is true live, but the girls father knows the life she would live in the mountains and he proceeded to present difficulties for the man to overcome until the mountain man leaves after making a deal with the devil. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

A boy alone needing to survive. He finds everything he needs by watching all around. He becomes a man with a fight at every turn he meets with determination . A great story

This book was much better than I thought it would be. It has the right dose of boyhood adventure, wild animals, and tense action. I would read this book again.
