"Dan Sizemore" (not his real name) was my great Uncle -- a very charming, intelligent, sweet man. Because I was a child when some of the events depicted in the book happened, I just vaguely remember my grandmother and mother discussing him and his family. This book has put some of the pieces of the puzzle together, though some of it was changed around a little chrnologically to make a smooth story. I do know that a miner's life isn't easy, and I think he did the best he could do for his family while doing the right thing.
