Morgan's Child

Rate this book
AND BABY MADE THREE.
When Kate Sinclair impulsively agreed to become a surrogate mother for a divorced socialite, she hadn't counted on the other woman reneging on the contract midway through the pregnancy--and telling Kate she'd changed her mind and no longer wanted the baby.

That left Kate with no choice but to approach the socialite's ex-husband, South Carolina real-estate tycoon Morgan Rhett. Morgan was too busy to stop and smell the roses. Would he take time out for fatherhood? Morgan made it hard to remember that he and Kate had nothing in common except Morgan's baby. Especially when he proposed an outrageous solution to the real roadblock confronting them. It was in the fine print of Kate's contract.

Starts out well enough but then slows down into slow boring routine and eventually complete stupidity.
I usually like stories with surrogacy in it and how the h (obviously the surrogate) comes to love the child, and she and the H (obviously the bio father) fall for each other.

*Major spoilers*

Even the most dedicated scientist has to obey the calling of nature to procreate. A throw-away remark about having children but not wanting to carry them entices Kate and she jumps at the chance to experience pregnancy as a surrogate mother. It was an impulsive decision and one she quickly comes to realise is going leave to her holding the baby! The obvious solution is to contact the male donor of the implanted embryo, but she discovers that he’s not too keen on being sucked into his ex-wife’s chicanery. However, Morgan isn’t immune to that same call of nature and knowing that Kate is carrying his child, he cannot stay away from her. Neither Morgan nor Kate want the complications of a relationship, and in their very adult, calculated way they decide the way forward, only to be confronted by the fine print in Kate’s surrogacy contract. This is a well written romance, one that brings so much more to the table than guy meets girl and falls in love. Once I started reading I was unable to put the book down. I found myself relating to the main characters and wanted to cheer them on, even when their world began to crumble around them. Descriptions of life on Kate’s island were fascinating and there were numerous laugh out loud moments throughout the book. The story is a standalone and I was so glad when the characters finally got their heads back on straight! I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

I enjoyed reading this book but I don't really like the character of the heroine. Agreed, she was a surrogate mother for Courtney and was abandoned along the way by Courtney who was the ex wife of Morgan. She had to seek Morgan out after being abandoned, initially Morgan was not into accepting the baby but he changed along the line and even developed interest not only in the baby but also in Kate. For her to abandon a 6weeks baby due to the mistakes of a man is somehow callous, a baby you carried in your womb for 9mths and bonded with initially is not real and the way Morgan accepted her back after 2mths or so without any qualms at all is not too realistic for me. I enjoyed reading it but didnt like the heroine all that much. She was too clinical and I didnt agree with some of the decisions she made or the way she treated the hero.
She becomes pregnant for a woman she hardly knows and then she finds the woman’s ex-husband when the woman changes her mind about having a child.
The feelings didnt feel genuine from the heroine side. You could see the gradual growth of feelings from the hero for the heroine and the baby but not from the heroine.
The epilogue was nice and gave you warm fuzzies as they are called but otherwise didnt find it as interesting as others.

I loved this book! It was so much fun to read. The setting was beautiful--the story is set on the east coast, on an island complete with a lighthouse. Kate lives in the caretaker's cottage and does marine biology research. When she's presented with an unusual opportunity to carry a child, Kate impulsively decides to do it, to find out what it would be like. What follows is a series of events that changes her life. It is such a great story, and I couldn't stop reading it. I highly recommend this book, Morgan's Child. Thanks to Ebook Discovery for providing a complimentary copy of this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and reviewing it.

Families do come in all shapes and sizes. This was an interesting story about Kate and Morgan who had a very unconventional starting point in their relationship. Challenges around career, honesty, parent responsibilities and unconditional love all made this a satisfying read. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book.
