I was given this book by the Bible Society when I was studying at the Bible College of New Zealand (now Laidlaw College). I thought it was a general interest history, but I think it is better suited as a reference book for people doing research. It contains a lot of names and dates and details, such as how much a particular society received in donations, who the president was and how long he (so far it's always been a he) served.
The scholarly research and social commentary made this a formidable read. A little dry but i was able to read it because it contained personal family history in it. I picked up this book in a second hand bookshop in Shannon New Zealand.
