Monographic searching on the OCLC terminal: A programmed text with teacher's guide

Rate this book
As OCLC grows, and data bases become central to library work, those who know how to take advantage of the OCLC system will have a skill necessary to the library profession of the 80s, and a competitive edge in a shrinking job market. This spiral-bound manual offers just that in a programed teach-yourself format designed for use as a text for library students and for the continuing education of working librarians, and as a training aid for OCLC subscribing libraies.

Here the monographic searching procedure is broken down into small repeated steps which allow the user to move at his or her own pace for optimum mastery of the OCLC terminal. There are instructions, quizzes, and exercises, and a built-in teacher's guide. After working through the manual, the user will know how to use LC numbers, ISBNs, author's name, and title to find a monograph, and will be able to tell which libraries in OCLC own the work, and which provided the cataloging information. The book incorporates additions to OCLC made as late as fall 1980.
