Outcome measures play an important role in medical practice. They provide the basis for both clinical audit and clinical research. They also have a medico-legal dimension in the measurement and assessment of damage following injury. This volume provides information on current instruments and scores as well as pragmatic advice on which are the optimum measures. It identifies areas where there are inadequate measures of outcome and where further research is required. The text is principally aimed at orthopaedic surgeons and their trainees, but may also be of value to metrologists, research nurses, and others involved in clinical research into musculo-skeletal disorders.
