As someone with no background in medicine, this is a great book. It works as a great guide. It walks you through dozens of real-world scenarios where paramedics have been called, then explains the medical issue, and how the paramedics respond.

It has given me great insight on how to respond to emergencies, when to call EMS, and when to drive to the hospital without an ambulance. The book uses a healthy mix of medical and colloquial terms, so some googling is required.
