Appearances Too: a novel by K. Reshay

Rate this book
The best word to describe Toni and Maya’s relationship is “frenemies.” Although Maya has always outwardly acted supportive of Toni’s relationship with her ex-boyfriend Ty, she has been nursing bitterness and hate for years.

Revenge has been the singular force driving Maya forward. Now she has a handsome fiancé of her own and a thriving career, but not all is what it appears. Her beau, Steven, has secrets of his own. Not only is he not interested in Maya; he’s not interested in women at all! He and his lover, Ricky, have been meeting behind Maya’s back as she plans her wedding. They think that it’s the perfect con, but Ricky’s ex-wife threatens to ruin the lifestyle they have cultivated. Maya isn’t the only one who would do anything to live the perfect life…

Meanwhile, Toni and Ty struggle to find some security after the attack, but an old friend has Toni contemplating her relationship and her future.

When Toni discovers some startling information about Steven and Ricky, she will have to decide what to do with the information. Maya is determined to let nothing ruin her perfect day, and Toni might just be standing in her way!

I read the entire series and feel that all the books could have been combined.

Appearances Too is the steamy, character driven second installment in the Appearances series by author K. Reshay.

I read the first book titled ‘Appearances’ in November of last year. When I began reading ‘Appearances Too’, the second book in the series, I was not sure if I was going to remember the details of the story being that I've read quite a few book since November. However, with the antagonists Steven and Ricky still up their evil schemes, I was immediately pulled back into the drama of the story.

In this installment Reshay takes the reader a little deeper into the complicated lives of Toni, Ty, Ricky and Maya. Still in search of the truth, each of these characters continue to weave in and out of a maze of lies, deception, pain and jealousy.

In Appearances Too, the author delivers a few unexpected twists that thickens the story's plot and adds more dimension and suspense to the already nail-biting story-line.

Now, although I think this is a very good story, l must admit, it is moving much too slow for me. Because Appearances ended so abruptly I was looking forward to some conclusions in Appearances Too. However, they never came. Instead, Reshay prepares the reader for the third installment “Appearances Too: Mask Off”. I found this a little disappointing. Breaking the story into different books, and delaying its content in such a drawn out way is causing me to lose interest in the final outcome.

Overall, just as in Appearances, Reshay delivers a well written narrative. Filled with interesting characters, shocking discoveries and steamy sex, Appearances Too exposes what happens when individuals become desperate to maintain an image of perfection.

There comes a time in our lives where we have to go along to get along.  Meaning go along with the program so that there are no issues.  Sometimes that isn't a problem if everyone is on the same page but when you have someone who has a different agenda then you have to figure out another way to "get along."  How would you proceed if the very person that you are supposed to "get along" with is moving forward with a different plan?  Do you stick to the original plan or do you play follow the leader?

Toni and Ty are having a rough time of it.  Ty is still in the hospital from his brutal attack and Toni is right by his side.  Toni is trying to help him remember but she just doesn't have the answers that Ty is looking for.  Ty is upset with Toni because she is useless in this process.  This makes Toni feel helpless but who can she turn to?  What can Toni do to help Ty along this journey?  Is it her job to help or should she just let nature run its course?
Mya and Steven are so much in love.  As Mya prepares for her wedding that will top all weddings she stops to think about her best friend Toni and her husband Ty.  She wonders what is going on with them ONLY because she overheard her soon to be husband Steven and their friend Rickey talking.  Mya is now wondering about reaching out to inquire about a few things that she overheard.  But on second thought, if it doesn't directly affect Mya then it is none of her concern.  What type of friend doesn't check on her best friends' husband?  How much longer is Mya going to play the victim and be a real and true friend to Toni?

Appearances Too is the follow-up book to Appearances where it tells the story of college friends that move forward with their lives.  The problem is that sometimes you have to put up appearances to deal with certain people or situations.  The characters in this book work well together.  The story line keeps you wondering what is going on and have you thinking of ways to fix the problems.  I read the book in a few hours so you will too.  K. Reshay did a very good job on this second edition and I can't wait on the next novel.

And the plot thickens! The description calls the characters "frenemies" and no truer words have ever been spoken. If you don't know what a frenemie is and want to know, read this book. The lies, deception and betrayal is rampant amongst the four main characters and the unexpected turn of events will leave your jaw dropped. Another great read by K. Reshay! Can't wait for the next!

Wow

This book just keeps getting better and better. I wish Maya would stop all the foolishness once and for all. Her jealousy is real ugly. Steven is a hot head. I hope Ty doesn't get addicted to his pain medication. Toni has put herself in a bad predicament. I can't wait to read part 3.

Part two is just as good as part one of the series. I was in total suspense as the plot twists! This book kept me on the edge of my seat.
