Roark Callahan lives a busy life running a ranch and riding bulls on the rodeo circuit so when a beautiful woman asks to follow him around to experience his life so as to write a piece for a western magazine, he reluctantly agrees. His gut tells him she’s trouble but then again, having her around might be interesting. As long as she pulls her own weight, he has nothing to lose. Except maybe his heart. Priscilla Butler is the first to admit she’s not thrilled at the idea of doing a magazine piece on a rodeo cowboy but she needs to prove she deserves the job her mother helped her get. After all, her boss is too eager to fire her at the first chance he gets. Working alongside the incredibly sexy Roark Callahan isn’t going to be easy, not on her senses or her body since she doesn’t know the first thing about horses and bulls but she’s determined to write the best piece she can, and get it published. What she doesn’t count on is how charismatic this cowboy is or how much her heart becomes attached to him, his family, and friends. Would falling for a cowboy be too terrible if the cowboy of her own was Roark Callahan? Unless he breaks her heart.
Susan was born and raised in a small town in the western part of Maryland surrounded by the Appalachian mountains. She moved to Tennessee in 1996 with her husband and two children. She's been writing for as long as she can remember and is currently writing three different series. The Men of Clifton Montana which will be seven stories and The Bad Boys of Dry River will be six stories. The Callahans will be about four cousins. Although it is best to read the stories in order, all can be read as standalone. She is also writing four standalone books. Excerpts from her books can be read on her webpage: susanfisherdavisauthor.weebly.com and you can also sign up for her newsletter there. Susan tries to thank each person for their review. She would love to hear from her readers and promises to answer all email: susan@susanfisherdavisauthor.com
I really liked both characters. Priscilla was a kind, strong and determined woman. She represents every quality in a female character I really enjoy reading about. She was determined to make sure her story was good and was willing to go the extra mile to get it. She was willing to put in the work to help Roark around the farm. All the while being funny and quirky at the same time.
Roark was the kind of cowboy that I think of when I think of a good man and cowboy. He was dedicated to his farm and his family. He was loyal, steady, protective and a provider. Even when he was giving his family a hard time, you could see the love he had for them.
The scenes I liked best in this book and there were many were the bantering scenes. Whether it was just teasing or sexy banter, it was fun to read. I enjoyed reading where these two were just enjoying each other and having fun.
I love a good cowboy romance and no one writes them better than Susan Fisher Davis. This is the beginning of the Callahan’s story and Roarke is out to win the buckle for bull riding. After losing, he wants nothing more than to just get back to his ranch but fate has other plans. Priscilla, a writer for Western Cowboy Magazine, shows up ready to follow him for 3 weeks, getting the story that will save her job. The fun begins as the city girl, who was supposed to follow him on the circuit, agrees to follow him around the ranch instead!

The characters were good, but I couldn't help groaning at the thin 'spanner in the works.'. Which magazine writer would write down sensitive information on their linked computer that they promised was off the record? It was so thin. Plus the 'make up' scene was ridiculously short. This was not my favourite story by this author.
I enjoyed the way this was written. Being pushed into do work you really don't like is hard. I've always said if you like your job you do your best. He also didn't want to do the interview. It?It's amazing what fate can do. This was a cute meeting that led to love. Greatwork.
Great characters. Pricilla falls in love with Roark. Her boss puts something in his magazine that breaks them up. Will love prevail? Will they live happy after? You have to read this great book to find out.
For me, it was the perfect cowboy book...really no angst, but showing how a cowboy can love..now I need to find more of her books...can’t wait to read them all!!
An Irish-American cowboy... There just is nothing hotter!! I live the small town feel of this book, along with the close knit family. It makes a fantastic love story! Don't miss out
This book made me laugh quite a bit. Priscilla is such a klutz and Roark does his best not to laugh at her. When she fell in the water trough I about lost it. Susan Fisher Davis has written another great story.
I'm used to longer foreplay and the "act" longer than a paragraph. The Female autonomy can abbreviate. I lol when I read that. Otherwise it was a good story.
This is a contemporary western love story between Roark and Pricilla. It’s a rather simple story with some hot scenes and likable characters. Rating 3.5
