Being the drummer for a world-famous rock band is the job Jace always dreamed of…but it comes at a price. Constant press, misleading articles, and a slew of fans who can’t always be trusted have made him question whether the lifestyle he’s chosen is worth the risk. But he loves drumming, and he doesn’t want to quit on his rock band family, Chaos…until he hears the voice of Jenna, a mysterious woman who captures his heart at first song.
Jenna knows all about risks, and falling for a famous rock star is the last thing she needs. She has far more important things to do…like staying hidden and keeping her secrets safe. But Jace is so sweet and different—he makes it impossible to resist him. Jenna knows she’s playing with fire by dating a guy who’s instantly recognized wherever he goes…whose face is splashed across magazine covers and television gossip shows.
For Jace, Jenna just might be a risk worth taking. But Jenna knows that some risks are too big, too great. Especially when her life is on the line.

Miss Pearl knows how to bring the suspense and romance into her books in a way that sucks you in whole heartedly from page one. Novella size makes no difference. The fact she gives us these books with all the gusto as the full novels is a testament to her admiration to our love of these books. I really loved Jace and was excited he'd get a story too. I was hot and cold over Jenna's hot and coldness but she grew on me with each passing chapter. Getting to see the BTS of our other favorite characters is always a bonus. Sad to seem them go but a happy-sad. Miss Pearl gives us beautiful endings to cherish, until we read them again...and again.
I really enjoyed this novella. There was an element of suspense that really kept me hooked and both characters were so sweet and genuine. It was amazing to see Jenna's character growth. She really opened up and pushed her boundaries. Jace was her rock. I don't think there could be a more perfect match for her.
Fine by Me (A Chaos Novella) is absolutely beautiful! Just to prepare you, you will need a tissue box next to you. Jace & Jenna's sweet love will capture your heartstrings. Suspense & secrets intertwined with a mystery woman with a beautiful face & voice. Character's are well seasoned & a perfect blend of supporting character's that accentuate the narrative. Along with spine-tingling moments, sweet music, a bit of witty humour & sexy times. I highly recommend reading this novella as it will not disappoint.
Jace spots Jenna at a function where she is working and is instantly intrigued. Can they form a relationship based on secrets? She has a past that she is terrified of catching up with her. He's famous and the media are relentless. The later chapters were full of such heart stopping drama that I couldn't put my kindle down. I've always loved this series and this story was no exception.
Wow just superb. Jace always wanted to be a drummer in a famous rock band. Now his dream came true. Lots of work to be in the limelight. Loved this story. Not to be missed when it’s released in Jan/2018.
Melissa does it again with this book. You will fall in love with Jace's sweet caring heart. Jenna is a great character that slowly peels away her layers for Jace. This a great story that will have you smile, tear up and make your heart flutter. There is a sweet happily ever after. You will definitely like this story.
Melissa Pearl has once again brought us a love story with a twist of suspense into a novella. I know I say that kind of phrase a lot, especially when I'm talking about this particular author but you know what? I don't even care because she needs more praise for writing woeful and intricate stories.
This book is the kind of book one can finish in a sitting but I was busy so I didn't have that much time to finish it all in one go. But I'm glad I finished it in the end because this book talks and deals with a lot of things we don't even see that it might be in front of us.
I really love the fact that at the end of the story, Jenna didn't wait for no one to stand her right and beat the evil man down. It just shows and proves that women are capable of men's actions too despite people saying it otherwise.
Story Line: 5 stars out of 5. Alright, I really enjoyed this novel about Jace. He is actually my second favorite band member. This ended the series on an emotion note. I can't believe I have finished the last book in the Songbird series in general. This series is going to stay with me for a while. I love reading romance stories. I'm excited to read some of her teen series as well written under Jordan Ford. I have already got a taste of it. I'm going to savior her writing. I love Melissa Pearl's story telling in general.
Love is not always perfect. That is what this story reminds me. Jenna runs to get away from her hometown in Trenton New Jersey. She winds up in LA. She meets Jace while she works at a wedding. Jace feels like a connection formed between them. What Jace doesn't know is that Jenna is hiding from an abusive ex. The abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex...makes her not want to get to know anyone. Jenna wants to make sure that her ex can't find her.
Jace is famous. It is hard for him to hide from the limelight. I love how he gradually breaks down Jenna's walls. They slowly start to fall in love. They slowly start to get to know each other. Jenna trusts Jace until a picture of them is taken. It is all over the internet...her ex could find her.
Also in the novel you learn that Jenna had a twin sister. Her twin sister tried to help her get away from her ex. She lost her life while trying to do so. It is also revealed that Jenna's name is actually Aleesha. She took on her sister's name. You also learn her sister abandoned her after their parents death. The last gift Aleesha's sister ever gave to her was her name.
The ending of this novel was wild. It made me feel tense. I was worried about Jenna. That is what Mrs. Pearl wanted. She wanted me to feel the fear in this one. I really enjoyed the beautiful ending.
Characters- 5 stars out 5. I'm only going to talk about the main two characters.
Jace- He is the sweetest member of the Chaos band. I also think he is the most patient and loving as well. I'm glad that I got to watch his character develop and grow in this novel. It is really worth watching. I loved how much he genuinely loved and cared for Jenna. He was there for her every step of the way in this novel. He makes me want to find a man like him. I loved his sensitivity as well. He will always be one of my favorite male characters throughout this whole series. He will never replace Flick for me though as my favorite Chaos member. I should have them tied for first place.
Jenna- I understand why she wound up so tight throughout the novel. Abuse is horrible to go through. Especially by the hands of someone you though loved you. I'm glad she was able to get away from her bad relationship. I also love the strength she displayed at the end of the novel. She was a strong, feisty, girl, and I loved her for it.
Favorite Quote- Life's heartaches are often unfair and they always take a piece of you, but in spite of that, they can bring out the best, if you let them."
Writing Style: As always 5 stars out of 5.

Oh how I love this book! And the whole songbird series is wonderful. I hate to see it end. The book is so well-written and thought out. Melissa has a way of pairing music with the story that makes it phenomenal. I suggest you load the playlist and listen as you read.
This is Jace's story and how he met Jenna. I have to warn you. This book made me cry, but not just sad tears, but happy too. So have the tissues ready. When Jace hears Jenna sing he is floured and awe of her voice and then her beauty. It is love at first sight. At least it is for him. Jenna is so weary of love, and for a good reason. It made me so sad, mad and wanting to kill the reason why she is the way she is . The things that Jenna had to go through, just to get where she is, where so heartbreaking. I was so glad Jace never gave up on her, even when she tried to push him away. And to think of all she lost the day she was saved from the hell she was in, made me so sad. All he has to do now is find way to get through that tough exterior she has created to protect herself and make her whole again.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too
To date, this is one of my favorite of the series. Jace was perfect in a not trying to be perfect kind of way. I love my spouse, but if I had to choose someone for my daughter, he would be like Jace. Jenna is a lucky girl. In at least this, to have captured the interest of Jace, the sought after drummer for Chaos. Having lost her parents early, she finds herself in a destructive relationship when her last remaining relative abandons her to work through her grief in her own way. When that relationship drives her into hiding, trusting anyone, especially someone in the limelight like Jace is, isn't a risk she is comfortable taking, but our hearts want what they want. I was probably most frustrated with her, and mostly because of Jace. Her need to run which would hurt him. However, at the end, everything works out and the nicest Chaos band member gets his happily ever after.
I honestly cannot get enough of this series. So when Melissa announced she was doing the Novellas of the Chaos band members I was thrilled.
This is Jace's story.
Jace, while playing drums at a function, sees the gorgeous Jenna through the crowd and is instantly attracted to her.
Jenna reciprocates the attraction, but when she's trying to hide, a life in the spotlight is something she needs to avoid.
But will love win in the end?
This one was my favourite of the Novellas as this had a lot more suspense wound into it. Jace is an absolute sweetheart and I love how much he cares for Jenna. I loved how down to earth Jace is and enjoyed delving into his background.
I think Melissa definitely saved the best to last.
A tale of sickening domestic violence and the courage to escape, survive & Overcome. My heart ached for the twins' suffering & sacrifice. This novella struck so close to home as I know first hand about this reality. Thankfully Jenna found a safe harbour in Jace & consequently discovered her own inner strength. This is my first time for this author. Won't be my last..😉 Well done.
Fine By Me is an excellent read. A wonderful blend of romance and suspense, Jace and Jenna's story is heartfelt and gripping. A beautiful, passionate and sweet read that is sure to touch your heart. This is a voluntary honest review that I'm posting after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Each of these spin off novellas has been an absolute treat. As a huge fan of the Songbird series, I have loved seeing the cameo appearances from past characters and getting to know the members of Chaos as they each find their soulmate and HEA. This is drummer Jace's story of how he hears Jenna singing and is instantly smitten with her and her voice.
She is hiding a secret and living her life in the shadows, she is falling hard and fast for Jace, but cannot let her secrets ever be exposed. She has closed herself off from relationships, but Jace slowly brings down her walls. Then things take a very dramatic turn and everything they thought they knew will be put to the test. Heartstopping twist and another amazing song score to accompany this fantastic novella.
