About the author

Jeff Kinney is an author of children's books including Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. Jeff was born in College Park, Maryland, in 1971 where he created a comic strip called "Igdoof."He also created the children's website 'Poptropica'.

This series = my entire childhood. I own every single book, and I have promised myself to continue buying and reading every single one that comes out no matter how old I am. I used to read these books over and over again when I was young, and it definitely shows through the bent corners and ruffled pages of my paperbacks. I remember reading Greg and his adventures of middle school and thinking that I couldn't wait to be in middle school, and now I'm past that age and writing book reviews on this series.

Also, it's probably concerning that I read these so young. I know the intended audience was for those of my then-age, but when looking back, Greg was horrible. He used Rowdy to get what he wants, he does whatever it takes to get his way, and he's, overall, very selfish. This character flaw had never been addressed or mentioned as consequences in the plot (in other words, Greg had no repercussions for his arrogance), at least, to my recollection. I now see that maybe this wasn't the best thing to let a young, impressionable mind read, but hey, I didn't turn out that bad (I hope).

I'm still wondering how much longer the series will be. I mean, Greg can't be in middle school forever, and there's only so much more Kinney can do before completely milking the series dry.

My kids absolutely loved this series. It is fun and will have you laughing out loud.

There are many books in this series some better than others, but they all have one thing in common, humour and the ability to make fun of oneself.

The pictures and jokes just make it all that much better.

Read along you won’t be disappointed.

If you were born between 1995-2010 and HAVEN’T read these books in elementary/middle school… it’s not too late. If you’re Gen Z this is just an obligatory read.

In general, Greg’s parents are doing an AWFUL job at raising their sons. Greg is literally bullying his best friend and is just giving malicious energy… anyway. THE MOVIES, oh my goodness… to my little brother reading this; THANK YOU for making me watch the 2010 adaptation with you, I was indeed missing out.
I remember having a crush on Devon Bostick playing Rodrick in the film, made me watch it twice for giggles 😋 okay but seriously, if Löded Diper came out with an album tomorrow I’d unironically listen to it. Melissa fumbled. MAJOR fumble🙄
