Rate this book
Smack in the middle of a crossroads in his life, Ty Sassaman embarked on a cross-country journey to find himself and come to terms with his past. He ventured into the world with a single question, one he hoped would help him uncover a fundamental truth of his own--not knowing it would continually reveal the honesty, humor, and thoughtfulness of the Americans he met along the way.

I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway.

This book is about the writer's journey across the United States asking random individuals the one question, "If you could ask everyone you met just one question, what would it be?" It is a journey of self-discovery and explores some of the author's relationships; his relationship with his dad was probably the most fascinating piece of the book for me.

There are no great "ah-hahs" resulting from the author's journey; I don't know why I would have expected the meaning of life to be revealed, but if you are waiting for that to happen-- don't bother. If you view this more as tagging along for the ride on the author's roadtrip across the country-- it will be a pleasant ride. 3.5 rating that I will round up to 4 based on the interesting premise and the depiction of the trip that many of us have fantasized about taking.
