British poet, essayist, literary critic, anthologist and reteller of stories for children. She is particularly noted for her translations of the Danish children’s author, Hans Christian Andersen, as well as for her critical reviews and essays. She was a recipient of the Eleanor Farjeon Award.

The Flying Trunk is full of stories by Hans Christian Andersen. He was Danish and wrote these stories in the 1800s. So they are really old. Some of the stories were pretty good, But some of them were a little bit hard to understand because they're so old. My favorites were The Emperor's New Clothes, The Snowman and The Princess and the Pea. A lot of the stories have morals and some are fables about animals that act like people. Those were kind of interesting.

This book is also too strong for young reader, but do not over look the book. It will introduce students to new writing styles and craft, so the students will enjoy the stories and learn new techniques of writing.

No matter how old you get, no one can truly hate fairy tales. In this book, some were classics, some I have never read before, but all were lovely and enjoyable.
