This was an interesting book that I co-read with an ESL student. It was about a group of girls who wanted to enter into the jumprope contest and were at best decent at the skill. The main character was a boy and although he was very talented at jumprope the girls would not let him into the group because of the sterotype that boys cant do girls things. Throughtout the story the girls learn acceptance and friendship as they elt the boy join the group. This would eb a good book to illustrate gender sterotypes and acceptance.
I think that the boy really wanted to jump rope with nikki and and her friends but when the con test came the boy wanted to be in it but nikki and her friends said no cause it's just for girls and at the end he got in the contest and it was for boys and you can see a lots of boys and george was not the only boy there they was a lot of boys there and george won the jump rope contest
