This storybook, by Karen Popham, tells the story of a little girl named Ellie. Every night, her older brother reads her a story and makes many different animal noises while telling her a story. From the croaks of the toads, to the prowling of the tiger, Ellie is facinated by all the sounds she hears. One day, Ellie begins to growl at everything she sees. When she growls at the cow and the dog, they both walk away but when she growls at the kitten, he growls back at her and Ellie becomes upset. William comforts both Ellie and the cat and reads them a story. This simple story is beneficial to children in Key Stage 1, as it illustrates that we should treat people how we would like to be treated.
