The next book in this lively board book series, which has links to the National Geographic Little Kids magazine franchise, uses beginning numbers and charming examples from nature to introduce young children to the concept of "before and after."
Penguins, raccoons, and other adorable animals demonstrate the important preschool concept of "before and after," inviting readers to count down the numbers from five to one. Using simple, age-appropriate text paired with colorful photos, Look & Learn books introduce children to a subject on one spread and then show it in a real-life context on the next.
Our library has a ton of these National Geographic Look and Learn books so I've started checking them out for F. This one was a little odd and I can't quite put my finger on why. I think it's because it wasn't really themed or cohesive. Each page does illustrate a Before and After, but not in the same way, if that makes sense.
What a fun and engaging children’s book. It makes me feel like these books are so catered to a child’s development that it makes me feel the child is secured with their future in school. Definitely a great book, and I highly encourage National Geographic books for kids.
I am in love with this book. It uses photographs for the animals, teaches animal names, before/after concepts and reverse counting. All that and it uses nonfiction elements like labels.
I had not realized from Betsy Bird's recommendation that this was a counting book. It nicely combines some counting practice with some nature learning.
