Excerpt from A Simulation of the Fluctuations of International Atomic Time
For this paper it is specificaiiy assumed that each of these noises is statisti ca11y independent of the others, and each is Gaussian in nature. One knows [3] that 0§(t) 1 for each of these noises, where u -2 for white phase noise; u 0 for flicker frequency noise; and u +1 for random wa1k frequency noise. Thus, one can ca1cu1ate the overa11 expected, two-samp1e variance, for a 1arge range of t-vaiues by adding the squares of the appropriate functions deduced from the bih mode]. Figure 1 provides a graphicai representation of this addition.
