Snake oil altert. Kangan is a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) pyramid scheme which sells water ionizers. They use propaganda videos to sell these machines (for thousands of dollars) using scientific claims that have been completely debunked.

Kangen relies on a variation of the Alkaline water myth is the slightly different claims that water ionizer companies make. They contain all the pseudo-science of the standard Alkaline claims, plus a new assortment of equally half-baked medical quackery. Check out the Wikipedia page on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_i...

Companies selling water Ionizers claim that you shouldn’t just drink Alkaline water, but electrolyzed (aka ionized) water, because it has “antioxidant” properties that can slow aging, help prevent cancer, cure diabetes, reverse mental health issues and a whole range of thousands of other claimed benefits (it’s impossible to keep track of them all). This water goes by dozens of different names including Electrolyzed reduced water (ERW). These dozens of different terms are designed to distinguish a MLM scheme’s product from the competition and distance itself from the mountain of evidence disproving the Alkaline diet and water myths. That is why they use these odd and deceptive titles for ionized water, to side-step the crushing weight of science against these health claims.

Kangen uses the Placebo Effect to sell this Pseudo-Scientific Snake oil.

Here’s a quote from Wikipedia from the “Water Ionizer” page concerning “electrolyzed reduced water” or whatever you want to call it, sold from Kangen and other similar companies:

“There is no empirical evidence to support these claims, nor the claims that drinking ionized water will have a noticeable effect on the body. Drinking ionized water or alkaline water does not alter the body's pH due to acid-base homeostasis. Additionally, many have inaccurately claimed that the process of electrolysis changes the structure of water from large non-bioavailable water clusters to small bioavailable water clusters, called "micro clusters". However, there is no evidence such changes occur during electrolysis, and these claims not only contradict basic principles of chemistry, and biology, but if such chemical changes did occur it would be biologically harmful.”

This is an eye opener on the importance of hydrating the body properly. A must read for doubting thomases.

Who knew water could be so interesting?! Lost one star for having to endure some boasting in the beginning of the book.
