This author's writing style bores me to tears. Also her aversion to virginal heroines is annoying.

I was lucky enough to be given an advanced arc of this book from my favourite HBM author. Just finished A Mistress, A Scandal, A Ring and I absolutely LOVED the story and characters. Jordan was a fantastic heroine not a push over and Xavier OMG the perfect alpha with marshmallow insides. His personality perfectly shaped by his adoptive upbringing rang very true, and Jordan’s warm and generous heart, and personal loss, a fabulous foil. You could feel the sexual compatibility on every page and their mature journey to their HEA WAS A JOY TO READ. Well done, Ms. Bissell.

Xavier de la Vega is the heir to the de la Vega fortune and company, but he was adopted, so he doesn't always feel worthy of his status. As a result, he works endlessly to make sure that even if his birth cause people to doubt him, his work performance never will. When Jordan Walsh shows up with a letter from his birth mother (also her stepmom), Xavier has a bit of a panic reaction that this will get out and become news. He's also pretty sure that Jordan wants something, so he has her investigated and decides to keep her close. But part of that is a result of the attraction that simmers between them. Jordan is disappointed that Xavier shows no desire to know about his birth mother and wants to hide, not only his connection to the amazing woman that was her stepmother, but also any connection to Jordan, for fear of the scandal that might destroy his reputation. And as they fall deeper into lust and love, Jordan starts to understand that Xavier may never be ready to go public.
This was good, and was ramping up to be a 4 star read. I liked Jordan and her refusal to be treated as untrustworthy and to be lied to, but was kinda disappointed in how easily she convinced herself to become Xav's lover, knowing that nothing could come of it...especially with how he'd rejected her for her own good (because he knows nothing can come of it). Still, it didn't feel like she was lowering her standards or anything, but more that she just decided to let loose and have a bit of temporary fun (but underneath she knew she was in for some heartache). Xavier was pretty cool and distant throughout, but he had a pretty believable reason for most of that. He had to basically be on 100% performance at all times. This had plenty of great chemistry, I liked the characters and there was just the right touch of angst. This was a 4 star read, except for the kinda abrupt ending where Xavier reads the letter from his stepmom and we don't get to find out anything that was in it...and he gives credit to his mom for giving him Jordan. So does that mean she wrote about her wanting them to be together? Or was that more symbolic? I wanted to know what was in it. And I wanted more reaction. That was a bit of a let down. And then no epilogue. I like epilogues. So 3 stars.

Jordan is determined to honor the promise she made to her stepmother. However, getting a meeting with ruthless billionaire Xavier de la Vega isn’t easy. Lying to get an appointment seems to be her only option, but she never imagined she’d find herself attracted to a man that is her total opposite. Will Xavier be able to convince Jordan to take a chance on him or will their shot at happy ever after never happen? Read More

Emotional, romantic read.

No, vero?

Jordan Walsh is on a mission her beloved stepmother has passed away and she must deliver a letter from her to Xavier de la Vega. first she must bring a letter to Xavier de la Vega. Sounds simple except he isn't aware that her stepmother is his birthmother. Trying to meet with him becomes a true challenge but Jordan lived with challenges whether in the hospital as a nurse or taking care of her terminally ill stepmother. Xavier has no idea what he is up against but little by little Jordan tries to get inside Xavier heart. This is the second book in the Ruthless billionaire brothers duet but can be read alone. Ms. Bissell has written an amazing story of discovering what love really means. The love between his adopted parents and brother are amazing and when Jordan is able to get in the little crack of his heart an amazing story emerges. I loved the first book with Ramon and Emily but I feel deeply in love with the man Xavier has become. Don't miss this one its true gold.

A bit boring to read compared to the one about his brother. Not enough interaction between two mains to feel the romantic tension. Some heavy plot points were easily concluded so drastically it caught me off guard and made me chuckle. If this had been longer, there was no doubt it would be like some overly melodramatic soap opera that you can't help enjoy, but also trash it at the same time 😂

I expected more from this book as Xavier was a really complex person. Also, the lack of an epilogue made it seem incomplete.

I liked this, and the way the author kept undercutting the melodrama.

There was just too much going on. I got to the stage, during the first half of the book, where I was skimming the lines for something interesting. A lot of the story could have been left out and still made a good story but saying that.......there was more that needed to be said. Story lines that could've been enlarged. As for the ending...........I NEEDED MORE.
