With a unique mix of humor, illustrations, and research findings based on a nationwide study of black young adults, this practical resource equips church leaders with a profile of black millennials that will help churches continue to effectively attract and make disciples of this emerging generation of young adults. Drawing on the biblical narrative of Matthew 14, where Jesus invites Peter to come meet him on the water, this book includes specific ministry principles and programming proposals for use in the local congregation.
Well thought out, well written. Sometimes funny, sometimes very moving. I appreciated the strength of the analogy throughout the entire narrative. As someone in a church leadership role, I would strongly recommend this book to church leaders who would like to gain insight into how to serve the young adults of our current context. I think the book is informative, digestible, and thought provoking. I think the questions included at the end of each chapter help to cement the reading and guide the reader toward applying what they have read to their own context.
