This is the story of Pig who doesn't like gym class. It is aimed at any child who doesn't play well in sports. Whether you are introverted, accident-prone when under pressure, or are overweight or underweight, you will appreciate Pig's adventure in gym class.

Pig loves food and because he loves to eat, he can't run fast. Consequently, no one wants to pick him for their team when they play a game. Pig stands off to the side while everyone is running and getting caught and sent to 'Prison'. His friend, Raccoon, tells Pig of his plan to win. He wants Pig to catch the flag and tells him not to worry, "it's only a game." With his friend's inspiration, Pig manages to win the game. An explanation of how to play "capture the flag" follows the story.

This is an older 'I Can Read' book first published in 1977. Hopefully, allowing two kids to pick their teams, is now frowned upon in P. E. class. For those on the receiving end of being picked last or near-last, it is a great way to lower someone's self-esteem. There is also some mild name-calling that is no longer PC in children's books. The drawings are simplistic and colorful and make reading the story more interesting. My guess as to the age group that could comfortably read the words would be 8 and up. 2*/5 for OK.
