Insomnolence #2

The Dreamers

The Sleepers are looking for answers. Why do some people sleep while others cannot? Kate and Decker dream of a way to help the citizens of the Nation. For that reason, they name themselves the Dreamers. After ten years of being told the outside world is no longer inhabitable, Decker now questions if that is true. After the Dreamers uncover shocking information from the Capitol, it becomes more important than ever to find a way out of the Nation. The question is: What will they find if they get past the Wall?

I'm now waiting for the film/movie.

I've become a fan of this author, in that I love her versatility. Each book is quite different from the next, re-genre and style. One might of course argue against this last case since The Dreamers is in fact a sequel to The Sleepless. The thing is that I somehow managed to miss the latter, but thought I'd plunge right in with the former anyhow... and that's the sign of a good book: the ease with which I was able to go with the flow, and put two and two together when need be...

There has to be a film/movie adaption of this book/series - I'm thinking Orwell's 1984. And there are indeed Orwellian threads weaving their way through, whilst at the same being a unique read - what a superb idea! It appears so simple on the surface, but the author had to come up with the idea and then write it so well. Those living on one side of the wall, who sleep; while those on the other don't.

As for the writing it's wonderfully concise and coherent, and, I must add, comprehensible - if, for those of you like me, you happened to miss out on the prequel. But then I'd also advise you to purchase the prequel anyhow: I'd bet my home it's more than worth it. And that's where I'm off to now. Not home but to purchase the first book...

Brilliant.

In this dystopian story, a world has been separated in two for the unfortunate population of the Nation: the one within the walls of the city, and the mysterious one that lays outside, possibly desolate and wild after a strange virus affected the population. In this new world, a lot of questions bother their minds but the most crucial one is why the virus spared certain people and made the others Sleepless? A group of the Sleepers is trying to find not only the answer to this question but also the way to escape the walls of the Nation. Meanwhile, a power-hungry and hate-driven President of the Nation is set on completely destroying the Sleepers, and will stop at nothing to implement her sinister plan…
Fast-paced and compelling, this story is definitely a fresh take on a world of the future. Interesting characters, unexpected plot twists and formidable villains make it truly a five-star read. Recommended.

I love how the book #2 picks the story of Kate and Decker, now The Dreamers, and takes it into yet another level of danger and suspense. Right from the first words of the book #1 I was taken into this strange world, and the second novel in this series turned out to be as riveting, as page-turning and engrossing, as captivating and more.

In the second book of the Insomnolence series, D.K. Cassidy creates a chilling world where most can't sleep? The Dreamers, Kate and Decker, dream of a way to cave what's left of their civilization. For a decade, people have been told that the world outside their enclave is uninhabitable. The Dreamers learn truths to shock the Nation. But can they get out of the Capitol, beyond the Nation and its wall?
An addictive concept drives this disturbing series. Try one and see.

Part of the nation can sleep..part of the nation cannot..why? And why do the powers that be of the sleepers wish to destory the sleepless..in book two a wall divides the nation..a structure that is either good or bad or merely a tool for control...why can't people survive outisde the wall? or so they are told...a look into a dystopian future filled with intrigue and the never ending quest for power...fast compelling read...in my opinion better than book one...

I loved the first book. This one did not disappoint and had me turning those pages. No spoilers here, and I recommend if you love intriguing, thought-provoking reads. D.K. Cassidy is now one of my top-favorite authors.

I enjoy reading Dreamers by Cassidy. I read The Sleepers, the book that preceded this one so I was familiar with some of the characters, and it was good to reacquaint. I especially liked how the author created this entire world and people it with a race of people who had the some of the same characteristic and flaws of earthlings today, even down to that infamous wall. I also like that a woman was in charge, President Greaves. She is determined to eliminate all the Sleepers, she being a Dreamer. Why can’t we all just get along? The funny thing is, The Sleepers and The Dreamers used to be one, but for a little something that went awry. This book gives a view on what it’s like in another world, another time, and another place. Interesting read!

This book could do with a second edition. As more of the story is unfolding, more and more plot holes are arising.

Geography is also a problem with this series. The map in the front does not match the geographical descriptions in either the first or second book - and the descriptions in those two books do not agree with one ano0ther. Travel is apparently by magic as an entires state can be covered on foot in a few hours.... repeatedly.

These inconsistencies ruined my immersion but would be easy enough to fix.

Disregarding that, the story is compelling, and I look forward to reading the next one and seeing how things unfold.

The story is a great idea but I find the writing very simplistic. I’m a fan of this author from other pieces I’ve read. In this book I found the dialogue painful to read and the narration over simplistic. The plot is fabulous so I will continue with the series but it could do with some elevated writing.

Amazing book but bittersweet ending if there isn't a third book

Really enjoyed this book- just like I enjoyed the first book. However, this book had a much faster pace and a bittersweet ending- if there is not a 3rd book.
