Nice little book covering many of the basics and philosophy behind raised bed gardening, from the perspective of someone who is incorporating Chinese techniques that are ages old. A little repetitive at places, and probably felt much more groundbreaking 50 years ago than it does today. Great pictures and some nice inspiration, but not a resource I’ll keep coming back to.

Well put together basic instructional primer with numerous tips and ancient aphorisms. Some helpful B/W photos.

This thin little book was very easy to breeze through and for the most part wasn't terribly packed with new information. Just one more happy gardener who loves raised beds as much as I do and is saying so again, in their own little way. The things that set this book apart are the fabulous little Chinese sayings about gardening, (would love to print up some of these for my inspiration board over my desk) the wonderful photographs of Peter Chan's gardens (am dying to copy his smooth rock paths, set in soil between the rows and his beautiful wood and string trellises) and also the great tips about how to compost the lazy way with a metal pipe for airflow instead of all that back-breaking work of turning the pile. Will have to keep this one...it'll be great inspirational reference if nothing else, I know once I get a spot for a compost pile I'll be thumbing through it again.

Love this book. Just reread it for about the umpteenth time. It tells so much about fertilizing, preparing vegetable beds, how to grow tomatoes, etc. Love looking at his gardens. I dream about having one just like it! The paths and raised beds look wonderful! Translated it into my now two-box garden. Added a new garden box this year and moved the tomatoes and peppers into the new spot.
