The Nightmare Club is not for just ANYBODY. Only the spookiest, scariest stories get told at Annie's Halloween sleepovers--and if you can't take it, well, tough!
All the neighborhood kids hate Dervla, the meanest babysitter ever. She is very strict, eats spiders, and...are those horns?
Only Becky has guessed Dervla's dark secret. And she becomes everybody's hero when she manages to rid the neighborhood of the demon babysitter. Don't ask how, but pssst, it just might involve vomit-colored stink bombs, an abandoned shed, and demon-food.
This was a little different from the children's books that I read. This is definitely for older kids. Even though it's supposed to be funny it was a pretty creepy story. A little girl tells us how her babysitter was a demon. When the girl figured it out she hit her over the head and locked her up. Everyone is worried about the babysitters disappearance. Our narrator gets annoyed that people feel story for the demon so she tells people the truth. It felt weird that they were making light of a missing kid even if she is a demon. She didn't really hurt the kids she babysat except send them to bed early. I don't know, it was just creepy in the wrong way. Three stars for the unique story.

I saw this book on the new release shelf at the library and grabbed it not knowing that it was the 7th book in the series. Thankfully, the story-lines appear to be independent haunting yet hilarious tales that do not require reading in any particular order. Must be read in the dark with a flashlight and a creepy sinister voice for maximum fun.
Cute, funny, and maybe a little scary story about a demon babysitter. Younger kids could enjoy this story without having to be too scared. Great for kids not ready to read longer, no picture chapter books.
A lovely addition to the nightmare club series, ghost written by Alice Stephens, who also wrote Mirrored. Creepy and funny and easily identified with (to a point!)
I read it to class and they loved it. I loved it more. It's wickedly funny. It's so great to get a kids book that I can read in a school and I know the kids will stay engaged.
