About the author
Seiichi Yagi
22 booksDr. Seiichi Yagi is a prominent voice in the philosophical foundations of interreligious thought and a major representative of Buddhist-Christian dialogue both in Japan and worldwide. Trained as a biblical scholar, Yagi completed his doctoral studies in 1967. Now professor emeritus at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he has taught at a number of universities across Japan as well as Hamburg and Bern, where he received an honorary doctorate. Starting with his 1975 publication, Points of Contact between Buddhism and Christianity, and his active support of the Japan Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies, he too has been instrumental in expanding interfaith literature and interreligious thought. Yagi focuses on a philosophy of religion that blends Buddhist theories and Christian theology into a single coherent account of religion as the overcoming of ego-centered existence to realize a more authentic, deeper Self. Professor Yagi is the author of more than 20 influential publications in multiple languages, which have been read by scholars worldwide.
