Tara Taylor Quinn began her love affair with Harlequin when she was fourteen years old and picked up a free promotional copy of a Harlequin Romance in a hometown grocery store. The relationship was solidified the year she was suspended from her high school typing class for hiding a Harlequin Romance behind the keys of her electric typewriter. Unaware that her instructor loomed close by, Ms. Quinn read blissfully on with one finger resting on the automatic repeating period key. She finished the book in the principal’s office. Forced to leave her romances in her locker after that, Ms. Quinn’s typing skills improved - a fact for which she is eternally grateful.

With over 140 original novels, published in more than twenty languages, Tara Taylor Quinn is a USA Today bestselling author with more than seven million copies sold. She is a winner of the 2008 National Reader's Choice Award, four time finalist for the RWA Rita Award, a finalist for the Reviewer’s Choice Award, the Bookseller’s Best Award, the Holt Medallion and appears regularly on the Waldenbooks bestsellers list. Ms. Quinn writes for Harlequin and MIRA Books. Reviewer, Cindy Penn, wordweaving.com says, “Amazing character development is the hallmark of author Tara Taylor Quinn’s work. Indeed, Taylor’s profound observations of human nature and intimate understanding of values and priorities lends extraordinary psychological depth to all her work.”

Tara Taylor Quinn was born and raised in Ohio. Though she wrote her first story at the age of seven, her professional writing career began ten years later when she was hired as a stringer with the Dayton Daily News in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Wright State University and graduated from Harding College in Arkansas with a degree in English and Journalism. She published several magazine articles before turning to writing as a full-time occupation.

Ms. Quinn is a Past President of the Romance Writers of America and served for eight years on the Board of Directors of that association. She has a wide range of experience as a public speaker and workshop presenter for writers groups around the country.

When she’s not home with her owners, Jerry Lee and Taylor Marie, and LeeLee or fulfilling speaking engagements, Tara loves to travel with her husband, stopping wherever the spirit takes them. They’ve been spotted in casinos and quaint little small town antique shops all across the country..

3 1/2 STARS!

Redemption after betrayal! It's sadly the end of an era as Tara Taylor Quinn's last book in the famed Harlequin Superromance line is upon us. I personally have devoured and adored book after book from her for years on end, and it's sad to see the line end. Never fear! We do have more books to look forward to soon, just under a different Harlequin line. That said, sadly this book fell a little flat for me. You might think that the person that did the betrayal would be the one making it hard to connect with in this couple, but in reality, I felt more connected to Cedar than I did to the victim, Heather. There were redeeming qualities to the story, and the big unexpected spin towards the end was an "a-ha!" moment indeed. Looking forward to seeing the The Lemonade Stand in the future.

Former defense attorney Cedar Wilson is on a mission to right the wrongs he created in life when he lost sight of why he became an attorney in the first place and started caring only about the win and the prestige. He lost the love of his life when he manipulated a situation in which he had asked for her help on a case ... and it opened his eyes to the person he had become.

Polygraphist Heather Michaels walked away from the relationship she thought would last forever when Cedar showed a side to him she wanted no part of. She isn't sure why he's reaching out to her now, but she really has no trust left for his word at this point. When she learns of the mission he's wanting help with, she agrees to go to The Lemonade Stand shelter and talk to the person who may hold the answers they need. She really hopes this doesn't come back to bite her!

Another winner in the WHERE SECRETS ARE SAFE series. Cedar Wilson is no longer working as a defense attorney after he makes the biggest mistake of his life with the woman he loves more than life itself. Heather Michaels is certain she can never be with Cedar again, maybe not even work with him again in her role as polygraph expert. But they're thrown together again when she invites him to her engagement party. Misunderstood by her friends, it's Heather's way of testing herself, but will that test tell her what she wants to know about herself?

How these two flawed individuals get at trust and love forces us all to rethink much of what they thought of each other, their former actions, and what they want out of life now. They need help from friends, but also going deep into an understanding of each other and their own hearts and minds. An affecting tale.

OHHH a visit back to The Lemonade Stand is always a favorite of mine. A Defender's Heart is book #15 in the Where Secrets are Safe series! I absolutely adore every single visit to this shelter. Tara always pulls me in and leaves me hanging for more. This was no different in this second chance romance with Cedar and Heather. The shared history makes it difficult to over come yet when the chemistry with them gets heated its all they can do to rekindle that relationship.

I struggled to finish this read because it just didn't hold my attention. It took me weeks to finish because I kept reading a chapter here & there and then forgetting about it. It's an okay story & the characters are likable but it just didn't hold my interest.. Don't take my opinion though because this may just be one of those "It's not you, but me" type of reads....

This is Heather Michaels and Cedar Wilson's story.
“YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL...”
In a figure-hugging, short black dress and matching wedge heels, with her blond hair in a sophisticated updo, Heather smiled as yet another of her parents’ friends spoke to her as she passed by on her way to somewhere else. She’d occasionally worn the dress clubbing in LA, but had little reason to put it on now that she was back in Santa Raquel full-time. She exchanged a few more pleasantries, acknowledging that, yes, her independent polygraph business of five years was thriving, and moved on.
She was looking for Charles. She’d seen him a total of five minutes max since they’d arrived at her parents’ beachfront home, just down the road from Charles’s house—and ten minutes from her own beachside bungalow.
Fifteen years her senior, her fiancé was handsome. Fit. A dentist who was actually popular with his patients. He had a way of putting people at ease. She’d known him since he’d moved into her parents’ neighborhood after his divorce ten years before; she’d been home visiting while on break from college. And she’d started dating him the previous summer, when they hooked up at a neighborhood Fourth of July bash she’d attended with her folks.
THE PARTY WAS in full swing. Vehicles, mostly expensive ones, lined both sides of the street. Slowing his SUV out front, Cedar could see the shadows of people milling around behind the sheer drapes that covered the massive windows. Men, women...indeterminate ages.
He could almost hear the laughter and the conversation. Figured most of it would be sincere.
Heather wouldn’t surround herself with fakes.
In black jeans and a new button-down, black-and-white striped shirt, he started to feel underdressed. Thought about taking off.
I highly recommend reading.
A Defender's Heart by Tara Taylor Quinn is a wonderful well written 5 star book.

Way too much time spent in the characters' heads...made it to 20% and still felt like nothing was happening. Definitely willing to believe this is a case of it's me, not the book...
