The Imagine Heaven Devotional is such a beautiful book, inside and out. The cover and binding are perfect and this is an ideal gift or collectible. There is also a ribbon bookmark included which I'm always happy to see in a book. Who doesn't love a built in bookmark?? This book is adapted from John Burke's 2015 bestseller. This unique devotional is not like any others that I've read. There are 100 devotional excerpts included and each one contains a near-death story, Scripture, and prayer. The stories told in this book are so eye-opening. This really does make you imagine what heaven will be like. It's interesting to see that most people who have had a near-death experience encounter the same types of emotions. I'm not fully sure of the validity of near-death experiences, but I do think this book is inspiring, especially for people who are dealing with loss or searching for peace. I enjoyed reading this and will be passing it along. Thank you so much to BakerBooks for the chance to read and review this book!

I think most of us have wondered what life would be like after we die. We wonder what does Heaven look like? Imagine Heaven Devotional by John Burke and Kathy Burke has 100 devotions sharing true stories of near-death experiences.


Each devotion in the Imagine Heaven Devotional starts out with a Bible verse, then there is a two-page devotion that includes at least one or more stories from people who have had near-death experiences, and it ends with a prayer. This hardcover book has a beautiful cover that looks rather like we imagine heaven and it includes a ribbon marker. It really is gorgeous and would make a good gift for almost anyone.


I enjoyed reading Imagine Heaven Devotional to start my day and to end my day. I just felt my faith being lifted up as I read through this book. If I am honest, I also felt less scared about dying even though as a Christian I already knew I was going to a better place. This book just left me feeling more heavenly minded and less worried about what was going on around me today. I believe I slept better and I started my day better. I would encourage every Christian to read this book. . .and I think it might also be good for those who are not Christians but are wondering about the faith and after life.

This was an amazing book! I was encouraged to remember that there's so much more life to come in Heaven and what an awesome place it is. The stories and quotes from various people who had died and gone to Heaven were fascinating, especially when some of their descriptions matched so closely! I haven't read the original book yet but I'd heard of a few of the people featured here as I'd read other books by or about them. I would say the overarching theme is God's love, how deep and overwhelming it was to people, how accepted and unconditionally loved they felt, even as they had "life reviews" that weren't always very positive as they saw how they had treated people throughout their life. There were cool stories about interactions with angels, loved ones who had died and were guiding them around Heaven and of course, meeting Jesus face to face. The beauty of Heaven sounds amazing. The devotions were great reminders to lean on God for strength in our weaknesses and to look forward to Heaven where our questions will be answered, our pain erased and where we'll feel we're finally home. I highly recommend it!

I was immediately drawn into this lovely devotional. The initial short story speaks of airline pilot, Captain Dale Black, who received a taste of Heaven after his plane crashed shortly after takeoff. I’ve seen interviews with Captain Black online, and find his story jaw-dropping and inspiring. I believe he was spared (the lone survivor) for the purpose of sharing his story, so others can better prepare themselves for the life to come.

Through Captain Black’s story, and the numerous others in this book who’ve lived through similar experiences, we get a taste of Heaven and are able to imagine and anticipate the blessings awaiting us.

Each of the 100 devotions is two pages in length and includes Scripture verses (various versions), a short story, reflection portion, and brief, exemplary prayer.

The Imagine Heaven Devotional has a colorful padded hardcover (oxymoron, haha) suitable for gifting. The stories are interesting and inspiring, and an attached ribbon bookmark is an added perk.

If you have ever woken in the middle of the night, heart pounding, eyes wide, gasping and thinking, "Is there REALLY anything after death??" this is the book for you. Its 100 accounts of near-death experiences will comfort you and calm you and leave you certain that there IS life after death and that it is wonderful. It kind of makes you look forward to meeting Jesus!

It's a daily devotional, but there's no writing required or any scripture verses to look up; it's just easy, comforting (and interesting!) reading. Many days I enjoyed the stories so much that I read several instead of just stopping at one.

I've also read Imagine Heaven by this author and felt the same way about it. I usually pass my books along after I finish them, but I keep a copy of Imagine Heaven and I'm planning to keep my copy of the Imagine Heaven Devotional, too. I order extra copies to comfort friends when they lose loved ones or if I have a conversation with someone I'm close to who voices the same fears about death that I have/had.

Imagine Heaven by John Burke is a book filled with stories of near death experiences (NDE). It provides a reader about experiences of what heaven is like from peoples perspective from all around the world and from believers and nonbelievers. The book goes in depth into explaining these NDEs such as what people sense (touch, see, and other senses that we don’t experience in earth), the experience when meeting Jesus, experience going to hell, and much more. What I got out of the book is peoples perspectives and experiences that correlate with Bible scripture. What struck me the most was when an NDEer meet God and it felt as the question wasn’t for God but for the self. “Why didn’t I do more for you?...it’s that I loved God so immensely I felt like He deserved so much more from me.” Great book to get other peoples perspectives of near death experiences and what might be yet to come afterlife on earth. Overall grade 7/10

For most of us, I think we have wondered what life would be like after we die. I think we have read passages of scripture about heaven and tried to understand in our minds what it must be like. Imagine Heaven Devotional by John Burke and Kathy Burke has 100 devotions sharing true stories of experiences from those who have experienced heaven through near death experiences.
This devotional is a great one to read as part of your daily Bible reading. Every devotional starts off with a Bible verse and a story, along with time for prayer. I found many of the devotionals to be informative, insightful and imaginative. This is a great devotional to get you out of the daily grind and spark something new in your quiet time with the Lord. I recommend this devotional.

This book was very encouraging and compelling to read and teaching us from the experience life with a true stories of nearly die with based on devotional of their reaching. We will be inspired stories to help us imagine what the Bible describes. We believe the Bible should be the authority and framework for understanding Heaven and interpreting NDE’s.
