Packed with information, grouped into various categories. Illustrations are mostly photographs. Contains a glossary and index. Although there are some longer narratives, much of the text is presented in short bursts: a page/section might have a paragraph each for half a dozen subtopics. Hence, it might not be ideal to read straight through, but could be used in conjunction with another text (even historical fiction) to provide additional details, explanations, and context.

The Sumerians are an interesting area of ancient history. It still amazes me to learn about this culture. This book is certainly aimed at a younger age, but it is packed with some great information and some good charts. There are also some great "info graphics" and awesome images throughout. This book does a good job of giving you an understanding of the culture of the Sumerians in a very short space. I will likely check out all of her books that I library owns to accompany my other books on the respective subject. I recommend these books for all ages.

short simple sentences. Not really a research book, more like an summarized intro to Sumeria. I think this might have been written for youth readers, and for that purpose it deserves more then 2 stars.
