Dr. Reasoner tackles the subject of the kingdom of God in this book. He looks at its coming in Christ, its establishment by Him, the kingdom in history, the Methodist view of the kingdom and a chapter on questions and answers concerning what he has written about in this book.
This is hands-down the best thing I have read on the subject of eschatology, though I will admit it’s not for the average casual reader - this deals with heavy theological questions and lots of church history. I have long believed that Scripture does not support belief in a pre-tribulation rapture, and I knew that this was something that had not really been taught before the 1800s, but I didn’t understand all the history of the debate, and I didn’t know how to truly articulate what I do believe about end times. This book does an excellent job of bringing all the history together and discussing the variety of viewpoints that are out there. It is very well-researched and well-organized. Although it is over 400 pages, I couldn’t put it down, and I read the whole thing in about 4 days because it was so fascinating. I now feel that I have a much stronger grip on both what I believe and why what we believe about these things matters. I can see myself referring to this book often. If you have serious questions about the book of Revelation and related passages, I highly recommend this.
