The Russian crucifix: A Victorian mystery

Rate this book
Freeborn magicly weaves fact and fiction to create a touching story of growing up, a highly suspenseful thriller, and a remarkable reconstruction of the past. For the mystery is based on real events from the summer of 1860, on the eve of what might have been revolutionary events in Russia, when several eminent figures, including the novelist Turgenev, gathered in the little seaside town.

Richard Freeborn is a Professor of Russian Literature at the University of London and has written several previous books. Although he once lived in the Soviet Union, he now resides in England with his wife.
