Fantastic! Fun-tastic! Fawn-tastic!! The Ona Pendulum is the second award-winning book in The Adventures of Fawn series! Fawn and her friends find themselves trying to stop an evil former elf Princess from destroying The Ona Pendulum...a device that enables Santa, Wajic, the elves and reindeer to live for hundreds of years. The citizens of Santa's Village...and Christmas itself... are all in great danger! But before the young reindeer and her faithful companions can start off on their mission, they must first learn how a young woodworker named Kristoff Kringle went from his family's workshop to become the leader of hundreds of elves, and an icon of Christmas. They'll discover how he began delivering toys, how he met the elves, and where his famous, "Ho-Ho-Ho" comes from. They'll also learn about the Rua Ondos…wonderful, magical shooting stars which fell to Earth on the very first Christmas. The Ona Pendulum is an exciting adventure for children of all ages!
Through almost 40 years as a Santa Claus, Al E. Boy developed quite a repertoire of tales to explain and answer the many questions children ask about Santa, the North Pole, his reindeer, and his friends, the elves. It was this collection of tales which prompted him to begin writing The Adventures of Fawn. Through the young daughter of legendary reindeer Comet and Vixen, he's been able to weave an exciting, colorful, imaginative world which will delight readers of all ages! In addition to the series "The Adventures of Fawn", with international author F. Carod, Mr. Boy co-authored an award-wining trilogy of psychological thrillers called "Misadventures Memoirs".
This is a brilliant continuation of an award winning children’s fantasy series. The author does a great job of upping the ante in the series as readers are treated to an original and unique origin story unlike any other. Getting to explore the history of Santa was not only fun, but the story created in this novel was more detailed, more action-packed and had more twists and turns than any other origin story for the holiday figure.
A story of tragic losses, the past coming back to haunt the present, a perilous journey to save an iconic holiday hero, and tales of redemption make this story so engaging and hook the reader throughout the entirety of the story. Another evenly paced read, the novel does a great job of balancing the fantasy and magical elements of the novel with fantastic character building and interactions that make the story flow smoothly.
The Verdict
This is a brilliant sequel to a growing children’s fantasy series that redefines the Christmas season and the origins of Santa as a whole. The inclusion of Elven lore, the struggle for two very different worlds to find common ground and live in peace, and the pursuit of good and the will to do what’s right make this an inspiring story of children and parents alike to enjoy with one another, and is a great new chapter in the holiday season genre. If you haven’t yet, be sure to grab author Al E. Boy’s novel “The Ona Pendulum” today!
Fawn, Bunny, Snowboy, Santa, Wajic, and Doctor Mary Weather are all back. Readers were first introduced to them in the first book, The Adventures of Fawn: Til' the Last Snowflake Falls. I enjoyed that book a lot. Although, in the first book Santa and Wajic did not have as huge parts as they do in this book. I have enjoyed getting to know both of these characters better; especially getting to know the story behind just who Santa was before he became the man in the red suit. Wajic is another character that was fun to get to know. He had so many tricks and he was filled with many expressions. Not to be outdone, Mary got more involved as well. Another fun aspect to this book is the new characters. Which turned out to be new friends.
While, the first book mainly focused on the woods surrounding Santa's workshop, this story took readers to a new location and back in time. It was not all fun and games but had some more substance to the story. Yet, readers will enjoy this story just as much as they did the first book.
The Adventures of Fawn (The Ona Pendulum) by Al E. Boy is a children’s coming of age story that takes place after Til the Last Snowflake Falls. This is a book that would appeal most to a mixed audience of children and young teens who enjoyed Til the Last Snowflake Falls as well as those who enjoy Christmas stories. Fawn is the reindeer daughter of Comet and Vixen, who teams up with her friends, Bunny and Snowboy, once again when Santa’s very existence is threatened by an evil former elf Princess who seeks to destroy the Ona Pendulum. The Ona Pendulum is the magical item that has allowed Santa and his elves to live for centuries and without its existence, Christmas will be lost forever. Do Fawn and her friends have what it takes to save the day once more?
The Adventures of Fawn (The Ona Pendulum) by Al E. Boy is a well written book that I personally enjoyed more than the Rudolph story as the main character is a young female reindeer and the story line is longer and more attention grabbing. I did find myself missing out on some understanding of the characters and some of their conversations due to the fact that I did not read book one first, but those occasions were few and did not detract from my enjoyment of this story at all. Fawn was easily my favorite character with her willingness to embark on an adventure to save Santa, the elves, and Christmas. Overall, I enjoyed this book and when I finished it I was left with a desire to read book 3. This would be a great book to read aloud with one's family during Christmas as it will keep children entertained and adults will enjoy its uniqueness.
After reading book one in the series, I mistakenly expected this to follow the same tone. Books are not always what is expected and that is a good thing! That's what they are supposed to do, challenge us! The author crafted a very unique, complicated, and fascinating journey surrounding the beginnings of Santa Claus and friends. This book made me think, and my favorite part was Bunny's spunk, always a fun character. If you expect this to be like every other Christmas, or Santa book, it will wonderfully surprise you. So leave all expectations behind, grab a cup of hot cocoa and open the first page with a fresh mind.
The Ona Pendulum is an enchanting continuation of The Adventures of Fawn series, and it shines with both heart and imagination. Al E. Boy masterfully blends fantasy, folklore, and holiday magic into a narrative that is as thrilling as it is heartwarming. The introduction of Kristoff Kringle’s backstory adds wonderful depth to the mythology of Santa Claus, while the adventure with Fawn and her companions brims with excitement and charm. This is a book that not only delights children but also rekindles a sense of wonder in adults. Truly a holiday treasure that will be read year after year.
I loved the first book and enjoyed the second one even more! The characters and stories were deeper, full of mystery and action! I loved knowing how Kris became Santa, how Christmas was born and how that magical world was created in the north. If book one was all joy and laughter, this one was love, forgiveness and understanding. I'm definitely a huge fan of Al E. Boy and i can’t wait to read the third part!
We are proud to announce that THE ADVENTURES OF FAWN. Book 2 The Ona Pendulum by Al E. Boy is a B.R.A.G.Medallion Honoree. This tells a reader that this book is well worth their time and money!
In The Ona Pendulum, the adventures of Fawn continue as an evil, former elf Princess, is trying to destroy The Ona Pendulum – a device that enables Santa, his elves and reindeer, to live for hundreds of years. It’s up to Fawn and her friends to save Santa… and Christmas!
This is an enchanting story about the origins of Christmas, the bravery of a few young friends, and how they might be able to save Christmas. The writing is whimsical and fun, and although the book is on the longer side, I’m sure kids will love it.
This book takes up where ‘Book 1’ left off. The Ona Pendulum is a clock-like device which alters the passage of time—so that Santa, the elves, and reindeer barely age, although they’re hundreds of years old. The Pendulum is in imminent danger of being destroyed by an ill-tempered former elf princess. It’s up to Fawn and company to save the day. In the process, they learn the incredible back story of how Kristoff Kringle went from being a toymaker in his family’s workshop to become a leader of elves, and an icon of Christmas. A great sequel…maybe better than the initial book!
This was a whimsical and interesting collection of novels. The author wrote a novel that was very easy to follow for children. There was a great use of description and imagery to keep the readers attention.
I loved the Christmas aspect of the story. It was a great read for children for this time of the year.
These are such fun characters for children to read about. There is a wonderful cast in this novel and there are plenty of interesting twists to keep the kids interested in each adventure. While my children could not read these stories themselves, they are a bit younger, they were great stories that I was able to read to them and we all enjoyed.
