Growing up privileged, although having a predominately ethnic name, Eboni Sinclair was the only child of her racist parents, Melissa and Timothy. Trying to instill in their precious daughter their bigotry and those they felt superior over, only made Eboni do exactly what they forbade. Secretly living a life her parents and peers would be disgusted by, Eboni finds herself smitten with Julien St. West, but he's not the kind of man that the Sinclairs would welcome with open arms. Finding out about Eboni's upbringing, Julien ignores Eboni's warnings and begs to become apart of her family not knowing what consequences lie in his near future. Will Julien ever meet the Sinclairs or will he lose his life trying?
I love this author's page turning tales. This one, in particular hits a little close to my heart center. The characters depicted, although fictional, were a frightening reality that we all have to face. People such as this do exist, unfortunately. This isn't my first read by this author, and it certainly won't be my last. I really enjoyed this one sitting reading.
I felt myself getting more and more upset the further into this book I got. It was just that realistic. Sad part is there are so many who feel the way the couple in this book do. This book was definitely different but in a good way.
This family was pure HELL! That daddy made me want to…nvm 😩 this was a good good book that took a twist I wasn’t expecting. Wheww the ghetto! I liked this one a lot.
Lord what a crazy story this is! I love Ashantay’s work and she didn’t disappoint me at all with this one just like her other books. Eboni is a white girl who is named after her grandfather who was a slave that made her father learn to hate African American people more. Her mother and father does the same thing to her as a child but Eboni goes against their beliefs. I loved Eboni’s character until she stated to her boyfriend the reason why they have to keep their relationship a secret which is crazy lol. Her dad was such a disgusting person to every race but his own. The storyline and character development was well put together. Yall read this book you wont be disappointed
This book had me so mad. The entire time I wanted to whoop everyone's tail. It's a shame how this world is to into racism now after all we have been through. I'm mad that people Eboni was raised that way. Her mother was just a weak woman and her father was a jerk. The end was just shocking to say the least.
Ashantay is very talented and she made me feel with this book and Locke and Keya! The ending had my jaw drop and I am still processing it! The storyline was excellent and it had me angry and sad! Well done!
I'm..*sniff, sniff * I'm hurt!!! Chileeeee... My head is spinning!! This book made me sooooo mad, but, I couldn't stop reading! I just KNOW there better be a part 2!! There has to be!! 😭😭😭
I highly recommend this book. The subject matter made me cringe at times but it was an interesting page turner. I wasn't expecting the ending but it made perfect sense. This is a cautionary tale that makes me even more cautious of the company I keep.
Omg! I’m at lost for words. I can’t believe THAT ENDING. Whew!🤧🤧 I was not expecting that at all. Ms. Keys gon have to see me. 😩 This story is very raw but I loved it! Did I mention the ending?! I didn’t see that coming at all!
Where is part 2? There have to be repercussions and racial tensions after the stunt she pulled. She did that to mIntain her inheritance she really didn't love him she was in love wit the thought of loving him. She didn't realize despite getting cut off her privilege would have helped her succeed . Doing what she did was just wrong. This book hit the nail on the head regarding racial stand points in amerikkka. Ebony was no better then her dirty pops
When I picked this book I didn’t think much of it. I was sick in bed and needed a new read! My God, I started to read and couldn’t put it down! I can’t believe Eboni! She’s just like her parents! There has to be a part two PLEASE!
This book was everything. The Author spun a tale that many face every day. For me this was definitely one of the best reads of 2017. She gave us an unexpected ending and left me thirsty for more.
This book was raw and uncut, it does pull at your heartstrings when you hear some of the racist bigotry that is very much so an ongoing part of this book. Eboni was so loving and caring of other races and religions it was as if she wasn't even born to her racist parents. She loved and friended them with ease living a double life from her parents. This has been one of the best reads I've read this year! Way to go Ashantay!
Wow. This was a really good ready. Man that Dad was just all out of control!! Somebody really need to put him in his place!!. Eboni what did you do? But this was suppose to be your boyfriend!! Omg. This book was racist as racist can get but I loved it!! A special shout out to the twins Shekie and Tootie lol.
Never have I read something as poignant as Eboni With The White Skin. Here you have a young Caucasian woman growing up in a family that is very prejudice in their thinking and dare I say it...somewhat systematically. I really loved how the author weaves a tale of racism and how it affects the opposite side mentally. I went through a range of emotions while reading this book: anger, hurt & sadness. It takes a true story teller to make their reader go through a roller-coaster ride along with the characters. I do encourage other readers to read this book with an open mind. You'll want to stay until the end and boy oh boy the ending is pretty shocking! Another great work by an awesome author! Please keep the stories coming because I am here for them!
I really wasn't expecting this type of storyline for this book. Very well written and I really enjoyed reading. I like how the author chose to write a book about racism. This book will have you upset with anger towards Eboni's father and the hateful things he says about people. But unfortunately racism still exist today and will continue that way as long as people are teaching their children to behave as such. Just when I thought Eboni would've reached her breaking point by her father's actions, she does the unthinkable at the end leaving you to question, was Eboni really that much different from her parents views about African Americans. Overall good read, highly recommend reading.
This book put me through a roller coaster of emotions Tim better be glad my dad was not up in this book cause I would have beat that man. The book was well written and I’m glad the author decided to write about things that are so controversial. We need to stop being silence and make some noise to shine light on these types of situations. I feel like Eboni tried but didn’t try I liked her but if she loved julienne I feel like she should have done anything to be with him and not kept their relationship secret. But over all the book was AMAZING!!!!!
This book was so corny and a waste of my time reading it I’m turned off from this author it didn’t make any sense I kept reading trying to get to the point of the book. What was the moral part and the end was stupid she loved that black man like she didn’t have anything else to write never will o read another book from this person. This stupid racist book that didn’t make any sense no drama just dumb
I was both captivated and appalled while reading this book. This book had me real fee in my feelings. Eboni the main character was playing with fire, when it came too matters of her heart. Being raised with prejudice parents, Eboni doses the unthinkable, and stuff starts to spiral out of control. Download this 5🌟 book and see what happens when you have to choose right or wrong, or is it all about the money ?
All I can say is wow!! This book was jaw dropping and teeth gritting at the things that came out of Eboni's father's mouth, his thoughts and actions. Racism and hatred at its best. Racism is not something we are born with, it is taught and learned!! The ending, ohmygoodness, I just know you not gone leave us hanging, Ashantay, right? I have found a new author I am definitely going to follow.
This book was amazing. It touched on so many controversial topics that many people are afraid to speak on. I enjoyed reading. This authors’ style is always one of uniqueness. That dang Timothy Sinclair was a piece of work and I’m sure it’s still so many that are that ignorant. Smh. And the ending is not what I intended. I just knew it would’ve been her parents and not Julien. I think everyone should read, I definitely recommend.
This story was wow. I'm still speechless on the ending. What happens when your dad is a true racist and you are not and fall in love with a black boy or have to constantly listen to your father's rants but you loved your parents and you know they love you as long as you follow along. This story explores one girl's journey. You will not be disappointed in this read.
I’m in shock after reading this book. It was a great read but I’m shocked at the constant drama. This girl and her family shocked me by their words and actions from the beginning til the shocking end. This can’t be the end. I need more. Now I won’t be able to sleep as I didn’t see the ending coming.
I put off reading this book for awhile, I'm glad to have finally read it. Eboni smh all that talk and she ended up just like her parents. O get it she thought she was doing a good thing but it was an epic fail will there be a sequel? I hope so I loved this book it was raw and uncut.
I went from having to woooo saaaa after every chapter to having a glimmer of hope for positive change. I refuse to spoil the book for anyone, but if you are a person of color this book definitely gives you a glimpse to the other side of racism. It doesn’t disappoint. It is a page turner.
HOW COULD YOU,, HOW COULD YOU, HOW COULD YOU.... END THIS BOOK LIKE THIS. IT WAS VERY GOOD HOWEVER BOUT WHY DID YOU END IT LIKE THIS. I WANTED SO MUCH MORE. CORRECT ME I'F I AM WRONG AND DON'T KNOW IF YOU WROTE ANOTHER. BUT MAN THAT WAS A COLD PIECE HOW IT ENDED.
Love this author. I have read many of her books. This one was just...WOW. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to beat the shit out of this girl's parents. And the ending caught me way off guard. Did not see it coming. It was a great book focusing on the problems we have with racism and how it is taught. Highly recommend!
Wow that was just crazy it's sad she had to do that to Julian all because of they way he looked and he wanted her to be with him just sad but it's because of how racist her parents are and it was messed him maybe they should have let the father die when he was having problems then she would have been able to be with who she wanted and move on with her life..this was good
First of all, I love the fact that this author touch on things that’s going on in today’s time, yes it had my blood pressure up lol. Somethings I wasn’t expecting to happen. She definitely delivered a book that everyone should read. I enjoyed it.
This book had me mad as hell. There were plenty times I wanted to be done with this story of racism, but I kept reading until the end. If I disliked anyone it would be Tom. I wanted him to get beat up because of his blatant disrespectful mouth.
