This book is about a family who moves to Alaska back in the 1940s when it was really primative. The author was the Naturalist on the Alaska cruise we just took in May. The interesting part for me is the touching upon a time past yet not so far back I can't remember. Their car was a Hudson. She talks about no tv and other times with out all the automation we have now and fast foods etc. It is a fun little book to read. But besides being back in time 60 years it talks about an Alaska and way of life few have expereinced. Cold that kills. Alaskan Highway that one little mistake and you find yourself in snow over the top of the car and no way out unless someone comes by this very deserted road. And she talks about all her expereinces not just hypothetical. It really is a great book to read and is not too big.
