Nucleic Acid-Metal Ion Interactions (Metal Ions in Biology Series)

Rate this book
First volume in this series which surveys new insights and directions emerging from research into the structural chemistry operating at the biological sites where metal ions are found. Examines a newly emergent focus of research activity—interactions of metal ions with nucleic acids. Selected papers describe important ongoing investigations in five key areas: discovery and therapeutic application of the anticancer properties of cis-dichlorodiammine platinum (II) and related metal complexes; possible modes of action of platinum anticancer agents, also uses of heavy metal complex in probing structure of nucleic acids; metals as mutagens and carcinogens; metal ion interactions with transfer RNA (the one nucleic acid having high-resolution three-dimensional crystal structures); and modes whereby metal ions may interact with constituents of nucleic acids.
