No Signature by William Bell, Steve Chandler also known as Wick parents was divorced when he was just little as he got older he want to find his father and ask him what was the reason he left, eventually he did find his father and he tell him all the answer he want to know. Wick has a best friend name Hawk (was adopted and bullied when he was young), one day Wick saw him crying in the locker room and that day he find out that Hawk was gay, Wick was shocked and ran away from him. The story is mainly about Wick dealing with problem in life, problem with family, friend and relationship.

Plot outline

Wick father left him when he was seven year old and after that his father sends him postcard every month that has no return address and no signature, just “DAD” stamped. When Wick’s mother saw him angrily ripping up the card, she started throwing them out before he can see them. When he was eighteen he got a mail and find another “DAD” postcard and goes in of search for his father. During a trip to Thunder Bay for a wrestling tournament along with his father, they slowly form a relationship.Wick will know the painful secret that forced his father to leave, as a result Wick forgive his father despite his bitterness and anger toward his father before.

Opinion No Signature is not a good novel for me, I will give a 5/10. At first when I saw the cover of the novel it capture my interest as I read it I slowing lost interest in the novel. I thought the novel will have a lot of adventure and mystery but it does not, only a little which is boring for me, the story goes back to the past and present. The storyline is good it deal with a lot of life problem people has face when their parent are divorced when they were young. Wick has a lot of regret, emotional in his life. I will recommend teen about 13 and above, who love confession story to read this novel.

I read No Signature by William Bell. I picked this book up from Mrs. Doyle’s room very randomly because the library was closed and I needed something to read. I’m very glad that I did. Wick for majority of his life hasn’t had a father due to his parents being divorced. Like a lot of these stories he ends up finding his dad and decided to go on a trip with him so that he could hopefully find out some answers. He ends up finding out that the reason his father hadn’t wrote to him all these years was because he was illiterate. During all of this, his best friend opens up about being gay. The book is just about how he deals with these problems. The genre is realistic fiction I rated the book 3/5 stars mostly because it was predictable but still a good read. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick easy read.

A VERY dry book. While reading, this book actually left me angry at the main character's (who narrates the book) thoughts. There is a lot of unnecessary details and it doesn't really climax until closer to the end of the book and is finished quite lousily. The themes of adult illiteracy, homosexuality and family relationship issues are also dated. The only part I liked is at the end when Wick and his father are able to reconcile their differences. Other than that, if you read it skip about 2/3 of way through the book and start there.

Interesting that this book isn't really listed on GoodReads, and even Chapters has no cover image shown. I was under the impression that this book was an award winner, but I must be mixing it up with Stones by the same author. I liked the story and Bell is a very good writer.

Good enough, but dated. Divorce, illiteracy, homosexuality - I don't know, just didn't move me. Wish they were teaching something else to our 10th grade students.
