"When sisters Chevu and Nez are given the chance to travel into unknown lands by Pan the wood sprite and Puck the hobgoblin, they jump at the opportunity. A short trip abroad in the mysterious, ancient forests to the north is just the sort of adventure they can’t pass up. But soon, their leisurely walking tour leads them into a wilderness more treacherous than any guide could have guessed, right into the snare of a tyrant with an expanding kingdom and a thirst for domination.
With a menacing chuckle and a maniacal grin, Ol' King Koel is bent on total control over every gnome and leprechaun in the realm. From his throne he has been plotting and pulling strings, slowly destroying all the ancient civilizations that surround his luxuriant palace. And now his eye has turned in a new direction, and he thinks these humans might be just the right tool. Two small girls should make the perfect bate to flush out the greatest terror he has ever conspired against.
It will take all of the girls’ combined strength and wit, along with a good deal of luck, if they are ever to escape the crafty machinations of this dark sorcerer who plans to bring all the magical kingdoms in the world under his own rule. With help from new-found friends and unsuspected allies, they might just find a way to turn the tables on the villain.
Micah Landers lives with his wife and five children among the rolling hills of Northern Kentucky. When he isn't immersed in a fantastic book, he can be found working on his latest sculpture or watching green things growing in his garden. He wrote Pan & Puck with his two eldest daughters in mind, in hopes that it would one day make a great bedtime story to read aloud to them.
He hopes you get to enjoy it in a similar fashion.
A great adventure read full of twists and turns and lovely creatures. I had a hard time putting it down and even stayed up late on a few occasions to finish it. It's a fun book for adults, but would also be an excellent book to read to your children.
My son and I both really enjoyed this story. An adventure wrapped up in mythology, fairy lore, and a little nursery rhyme. I appreciated the relationship between the sisters and how they grew throughout the story. Full of very descriptive details and I loved all the charming illustrations throughout. And this book had one if the Loveliest dedications I have ever read. I look forward to more from M. Landers.
A great debut novel from Mr. Landers! The story reminds me a bit of Chronicles of Narnia with some Lord of the Rings adventure mixed in. I found myself really enjoying the development of the main characters and hope to hear about the next adventure from Nez and Chevu.
A very fun book to read. I have to admit to being annoyingly attentive to typos - my only issue is frequent, simple editing errors. That aside (most may not even notice), I would gladly read any sequels.
