Il fait ce matin un temps abominable m’empêche d’aller à Eu suivre le cours de chimie de M. Robinet. J’emploie ma matinée à arranger mon aquarium dans lequel j’ai mis hier quelques animaux aquatiques qui y vivent en assez bonne intelligence. L’après-midi, je prends ma leçon chez Mlle Marie. Je la quitte à 2 heures et je cours chez Marraine. Je la trouve en bonne santé. De là, je vais chez ma tante où je lis le Manoir d’Yolan de Mlle de Martignat. En rentrant à la maison je pêche encore quelques animaux qui peuplent mon aquarium......

Pierre Louÿs was a French poet and writer, most renowned for lesbian and classical themes in some of his writings. He is known as a writer who sought to "express pagan sensuality with stylistic perfection". He was made first a Chevalier and then an Officer of the Légion d'honneur for his contributions to French literature.

Born in Belgium, in 1870, but moved to France where he would spend the rest of his life. He was a friend of authors André Gide and Oscar Wilde, and of composer Claude Debussy.
