This book provides an in-depth view of the efforts of Irish diplomats at the UN for the first decade or so of Irish tenure at the UN. It is dense at times, as it details telegrams and memos sent back and forth and their reception. Still, I learned a lot about the diplomatic dynamics at the UN, at least in its early days. I would have loved to read more about nuclear nonproliferation to find out how important Aiken's efforts were for the eventual birth of the NPT.
If you are a nerd about Irish foreign relations, middle powers at the UN, or early UN diplomacy, definitely give this book a try!
