I have read Swami Vivekananda for 17 years . Every single page of his books I have read , re-read and meditated upon. I have slept with his books. In page 82 of his book ‘East meets West’ he “Mediation means the mind is turned back upon itself. The mind stops all thought-waves and the word stops… Your consciousness expands….” A little further he writes on page 83 “ When the mind is concentrated and turned back on itself, all within us will be our servants, not our master..” Notice two phrases repeating in the above two sentences “ mind is turned back on itself…” I could not read further… For 30 minutes I let the words “ mind is turned back on itself…” stare at me… Nothing happened Another 30 minutes passed by nothing happened I had to know what he meant by the mind is turned back on itself… I was not concerned with the intellectual explanation. Vivekananda was a realized soul. His words were luminous… not meant to feed us intellectually but stir the deepest recesses of our soul I sat down before Krishna and meditated… Here is the rest of the story….
It’s hard to imagine someone is selling this short story for such a hefty price. One could gain more from a few Ramana Maharshi quotes than in this incredibly short work.
