This was a slog. While it might have been a delightfully thought-provoking read before the age of internet-instant fact checking and verification, this book feels like nothing more than a collection of mostly unverifiable tales (tails? heh) of animals preforming unexplained feats. And while I cannot blame the author for the scientific ignorance of his time, much of the book has become rapidly dated. Still however, it was...nice. But only that, nice in the way a gas station candy bar is nice. Not remarkable. not particularly noteworthy. I can see why the author chose a pseudonym, not because of "bias" but because he knows what real science looks like, and that this was simply a collection of fairy tales.
