I recently entered the EFCA after being hired as Young Adult pastor at an EFCA congregation. Having not come from the EFCA, this book was exceptionally helpful in introducing me to the history, doctrine, and distinctively of the movement I am not a part of. Highly recommend for those interested in the EFCA or who serve in one of its churches.
This book is required reading as a pastor applies for and goes through the Evangelical Free Church of America credentialing process. Having attended a E-Free church in college and my young professional years then later as a husband-wife-family and now a pastor, this book was very helpful in my understanding of the history of the E-Free church! Always valuable to read about your church's history in context. Will be useful to use while I write my credentialing paper.
A somewhat disjointed history of the Evangelical Free Church of America. The writing lacks focus at times. None-the-less, the story of how the EFCA came to be does get told. It is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in how the EFCA came to be a denomination in the first place and one of the fastest growing denominations at the end of the 20th century.
