This new series proposes a quite original the fairy tales in an interactive game. The story is told by short and easy to understand paragraphs. On each double page a mechanism animates the action, it really feels like being inside the fairy tales. Toddlers will play, look and read the story again and again.
Young readers will surely enjoy this interactive board book version of the classic fairy tale. Because of how the book is designed, they can watch his nose grow as he tells lies and watch donkey ears pop up on his head. This version with its tabs to pull on every other page stays pretty close to the original but much longer story in which Gepetto crafts a puppet that comes to life. The puppet, Pinocchio, is not exactly the obedient kind, and gets in all sorts of trouble, even landing in the belly of a whale. While I might wish the font for the story was larger, the tabs make the story lots of fun to read, and the entire board book seems to be quite durable and able to withstand a lot of use. This is a cool way to introduce youngsters to a classic story. This one was first published in France, and I'm glad it has made its way to my country.
This is a short retelling of the tale in which a wooden puppet fashioned by a carpenter comes to life. The carpenter regards the puppet, Pinocchio, as his son. Unfortunately Pinocchio has a bad habit of lying, and each he does, his nose grows. Pinocchio makes some other bad decisions, such as going to Toyland instead of school. Eventually, Pinocchio’s character improves, he rescues the carpenter from inside a whale’s stomach, and he is turned into a real boy as a reward. The story, though much shortened, is basically accurate to the original. Pages and flaps appear sturdy enough to withstand rigorous usage.
