I bought this book on a whim and yet I found it very interesting and informative. In short this book consists of short descriptions of every presidential nominating convention from their inception in the early 1830's to 1956 which was the last presidential election year before this book was published. Although it can be dry in analyzing motions to table this and that the author's analysis of the conventions in general especially contentious ones like 1860 and 1920 were fascinating.
